Pushing doesn’t work (neither does pulling)
My coach describes me as a “success-driven introvert” and apparently I’m a rare bird. I’m okay with that, except it can cause me some grief.
You see, I like to push. When something doesn’t go as planned, I either try to fit myself into it to make it work, or I push like crazy trying to get it working for me. Both cause some anxiety. Thank goodness I have someone in my life who knows me really well and can help me realize what I’m doing. I am great at pointing out when others are pushing too hard, but when it comes to myself I’m blind, and that is just how it is.
So during a recent coaching session, I discovered that I’m in need of a clarity check. I am growing so rapidly at the moment that I am quickly outgrowing habits, beliefs and ways of doing things but not realizing it fast enough. In case you feel the same way, I just want you to know you’re not alone.
BUT if you are struggling with one thing in particular, and feeling like you have to push it (or drag it) to get it to work for you, beware that it is time to stop and take a look at whatever “it” is.
It’s a great time to clarify that life vision again (I always say that the faster you’re growing the more often you have to revisit it).
So notice if you’re pushing, dragging, pulling or squeezing and then ask yourself, “How is that working for me?”
If you need some clarity around this, I have the perfect call coming up. As part of my Master LIFE CLEANSE program, I am speaking with Ariel & Shya Kane, authors of the best seller, “Working On Yourself Doesn’t Work.” We’re talking about why working on yourself doesn’t work, what the 3 transformational principles are, and how to apply them to your own life so you can stop “working” and start being. This call is ONLY for my MLC participants, though, so you’ll have to sign up to join us. We’d love to have you.
