HOW I dump the junk…and be happy

I have been talking A LOT about the importance “dumping the Junk” lately. Some of it has to do with the end of the Master LIFE Cleanse program, I always feel refreshed after teaching that course.

Part of it has to do with the need I see out there…people’s lives are still filled with JUNK! So I feel a personal responsibility to share my experiences with others. (Enter the Dump The Junk eBook, which is FREE, so you have no reason NOT to grab a copy, devour it and live it.)

In my Authentic Self Book Club meeting on Wednesday, one of the participants asked me how I was able to not let negative circumstances get to me. The short version of my answer is this:

I just don’t experience the negative in the same way that I used to. I’ve dumped the Junk, and become less magnetic to negative stuff (aka: Junk — sarcastic, angry people; guilt; anger; self doubt; debt). I just don’t physically or emotionally attract the stuff anymore.

Not that my life is perfect. Far from it! But I am living and experiencing a different life than I was 3 years ago. And it all stems from the effort I’ve been putting in to change how I am feeling and what I’m attracting. It takes effort, but done right, it feels effortless.

I’m not going to share how I Dumped MY Junk in this post, you can grab the free book for that, but I am going to share with you 3 of my favorite “happiness vibes” exercises.

These are the systems that I use to pull myself out of a funk when I notice I’m falling into one. And with time, I’ve managed to go from “flabby thinking” and letting my thoughts control my emotions with out my awareness, to being fit and fabulous! (Vibrationally, at least). These are the ways I did it.

  1. Focus Wheel. This is an Abraham-Hicks Process and I’ve talked about it before. It’s just a wheel, with what I want in the center. I get “on” the wheel but stating a true, yet positive statement that feels good. After I get the first one (it’s the most difficult) the LoA takes care of the rest, flooding my system with more positive and true thoughts. By the time I’ve filled out the entire wheel, I am very close to feeling like I’ve already accomplished my goal in the center. And that puts me “into the vortex” to attract what I want, quicker and without a lot of effort.
The Wheel on the right is a quick example I created. It should give you the basic idea to help you get started with your own. NOTE: Do not put anything on the wheel that doesn’t make you feel good! Only positive thoughts are allowed.
  2. Gratitudes (specific). After I’ve completed the Focus Wheel, I  spend time coming up with 10 things that I am grateful for, specific to whatever I placed in the center of my wheel. (Example, if my Focus Wheel is all about feeling good and looking fit, I’d do 10 Gratitudes on how I already feel like a “thin” person).
  3. Rampage of Appreciation. After the the Gratitudes I do another Abe-Hicks Process. I sit and I just appreciate everything around me. This is like a broad Gratitude list. I appreciate the sun shining and my healthy, fat cat. I love the sweater I’m wearing, it feels so good, and the computer I’m writing at. I love the people I’ve come across and the paint on my walls. Love everything, but be honest. You’ll create a lot of dissonance (resistance) if you try to fake this.

Those are my Secret Weapons to happiness. And I do them daily. Get into a habit of setting aside 20 minutes each day to do the same and see how it becomes a habit to feel good…and see how you become less attractive to the Junk in life!

Start from New

So stop trying to fix what you already have, and just start from “new.” You can begin right now.

Time to get out your journal, or 2 pieces of paper.

On one sheet of paper write down everything that you are resentful, angry or feeling “blah” about. This is stuff you need to release (for your spirit’s sake). Forgiveness does wonders for your life (just remember that it isn’t about being okay with what happened or the other person. It is about allowing yourself to let it be.)

If you are really stuck, and want to release these feelings, try the Sedona Method (http://www.sedona.com/the-four-ways-of-releasing-surrender.aspx). It’s 4 simple questions that will help you to determine if you’re ready to let go, and then guide you through it.

Be patient with yourself. It might take some effort for you purge these feelings from your life.

Once you’re done that,  write down everything you want for the new year.  Be sure to stretch yourself a little so that you grow. Goals that scare you a little (in a good, excited kind of way) are perfect growth accelerators. Don’t worry about the HOW part quite yet, just have some fun writing things down.

That’s it. If you want a more advanced version, you can continue with the exercise by burning the first sheet with all of the things you want to release on it. As you burn it (safely in a fire place or pit, or some sort of vessel meant for fire), repeat your intention to release those things. Note how good you feel when the paper has burned.

Picture 14With the goals for your 2010 year, create a Wish Box.

Find a box with a lid (like a photo box) that you can use just for you. I found one at the Dollar Store for $2.

Label it: My 2010 Wish Box

On the underside of the lid (so no one can see) write:

This or something better, from a place of love and caring, for the best circumstances for me and everyone involved. And so it is.

That statement sets up the intention that your goals/manifestations will come from a place of love, not destruction. (ie: walking onto a car lot, and easily negotiating the exact car you want vs getting rear ended and fighting with the insurance company for months before getting paid so you can buy your new car).

Then write each of your goals or wishes on a recipe card. Detail it out, as precisely as possible. Note how you want to feel when you receive it.

Place it in your wish box with the intention of receiving it easily, and by knowing exactly the next step you need to take to receive it.

Do that wish each of your goals, and then keep it up with any new goals you think of through out the year. Keep the box in an honored place (not somewhere with it just collected dust or dirt or can get damaged). Think of how you treat this box, as how you treat your goals. Cherish it and respect it.

I adapted the Wish Box exercise from a favorite of mine in the book:Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by Jerry and Esther Hicks.

Release the old, cherish the new!

Calm things down in the bedroom!

Got your attention with that title, didn’t I? This article is actually about sleep…the other activity done in the bedroom.

Sleep is important, but it’s often a struggle. Between too much to do, minor emergencies throughout the day, and over-active imaginations, it can be impossible to get a good night’s sleep.

Sleeping WomanBecause feeling good is such a huge part of living an authentic life, and sleep is required to feel good (and set your energy field straight) I have an exercise I want you to try so that you can “calm down” before you go to bed at night.

A very important part of sleeping well is having a routine. This signifies to your body and mind to slow down.  (Eventually this imprints in your behavior and a wonderful habit is formed).

I make sure I’m off the computer and out of my office by 9 pm each night. This makes a HUGE difference! (People can tell when I’ve stayed working past 9pm the night before).

Then I unwind (However this looks for you.  Lets get personal, here. I take off my make-up and wash my face. Then I get into comfortable PJ’s or sweats and I chill out in the living room with my hubby for a bit).

About 30 minutes before I want to go to sleep I grab my Gratitude Journal and head to my bedroom. At this point, my cat, Maxx, usually follows me. See, she’s imprinted with my sleep routine too! (Also a reason why no TV’s in the bedroom is important! Beside really bad Feng Shui, it will disturb you sleep life is you want to be peaceful and your mate wants to watch Criminal Minds).

I spend about 15 minutes thinking about my day and all of the things I appreciate. You can call this “meditating” but it isn’t usually that formal. I write 10 things down. You could also just think about them, but there is something about the writing process…at least for me.

If you’re a fan of Abraham-Hicks (I am!!!) he describes my process as Priming the Pump. You want to get your mind and body (and cat, in my case) into a routine.

When you are just starting out, it might be hard for you to get to that peaceful, quiet place. I have the perfect exercise to help you! (The entire thing can be found in my Master Life Cleanse Program, I’ll share a small part of it here.)

Think about the following questions (and I would write them down):

  1. The best thing that happened to me today was…
  2. I liked that best because…
  3. It make me feel…

Follow those feeling and place your attention on how good you feel thinking about them.

Once you’re feeling peaceful and positive, focus your intention on getting a good night’s sleep.

Try the following mini-meditation:

I’m going to sleep now; and while I am sleeping, because my thoughts are inactive, attraction will stop and my physical body will be completely refreshed at every level when I wake up. I’ll start the day from a positive place and carry that feeling throughout my day.
