Authentic Self

Romancing Sleep

I was asked to participate in another book launch for this book: Romancing Sleep.

I didn’t read the entire book, but I read enough to know that this could be a valuable tool for anyone who is having problems sleeping, and if that is you, check it out. Sleep is so important to life. A good night’s sleep means energy, vitality, patience and zest! A bad night’s sleep means grouchiness, anger and a short fuse with your kids.

When you suffer from any sort of sleep disorder nothing else seems so important as a good night’s rest.

And even if you THINK you’re getting a restful sleep, studies show it’s probably NOT the sort of deep, DEEP sleep that can provide the greatest life-enhancing, age-reversing, and energy-boosting benefits.

Want the solution? Take a minute, use the link below to go to the website and get all the details for yourself.

Romancing Sleep” is your guide to quickly and easily overcoming any number of emotional, environmental, nutritional, and other factors that commonly lead to a lack of sleep.

Rejection is God’s Protection

“Rejection is God’s Protection”

Is that an awesome quote? I wish I could claim is as my own, but I got it from the book my Authentic Self Bookclub just finished reading, “Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out” By Marci Shimoff. Don’t let the fluffy title fool you, this is the best of ALL self help books combined. (I judged the title, and in fact, the books sat on myself for over 6 months before I decided to read it. I thought it was “just another book about happiness” SOOO NOT the case.)

Anyway, this blog post won’t be terribly profound, but I was thinking about the discussions we had last night about the book and I opened the book up to share a quote I loved (a different quote) and turned to this page. There it was shining back up at me.

You never know how stuff will work out in the long run, but if you believe in yourself and keep the faith, everything will work out. In fact, one of the main characteristics of happy people is that they believe the universe is out to support them.

So the next time you’re frustrated or worried about something not quite turning out the way you want it too (or flat out failure), just remember that rejection is God’s protection.

Have a great day everyone!

Standard transmissions, business coaching & consciousness! What do they have in common?

What do those three things have in common? ME!

my mazda

my mazda (the "funnest" car ever)

A couple of years ago, I could drive a standard…if I was forced to. It was rough and jerky and I tended to just tell people I couldn’t, rather than get sucked into doing it. The suited me fine. My hubby had a standard, but my car was automatic, so I never needed to drive one. And he probably dreaded trying to be patient with me as I jerked and stalled and caused havoc with traffic, so he never forced me to.

Time to buy another car…and the one I wanted was a standard!

I actually never thought twice about it. I thought to myself…Hey, I have all the tools I need. I can do it, I just need practice and what better way to ensure that I practice, than to set myself up so that I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO. And this was the case with 2 standard vehicles in the family now.

To be honest, I had a buffer period. We kept my old car about a month, while I was learning. Eventually there comes a point where you’re either going to do it, or your not. And I invested a lot of money into it…so I HAD to. The other choice, to admit defeat and lose thousands of dollars trying to resell the thing (not to mention the time and the headache) just wasn’t an option for me. So I learned. And it didn’t take that long. When you immerse yourself in an environment where you have to succeed, you succeed much quicker.

The brain is a fascinating thing (much like automatic transmissions! I’m telling you, they are truly miraculous! If you’ve never had to drive a standard, you can’t possibly realize how masterful they actually are. To get a machine to do it so smoothly….).

There are 4 stages of learning.

1. Unconscious Unknown.

This is where you don’t even know what you don’t know. Years and years ago, when I learned the basics of driving as a teenager, I didn’t know all of the stuff that went into driving! I never paid attention to the different kinds of signs, and what everything meant, and how to actually get from one place to another without hitting anything, or killing anyone.  My coaching is the same. My first year in business, I had absolutely NO CLUE! I thought I did, but there is so much to know it’s impossible for anyone to figure it all out on their own, and be successful in the first year. (Hiring my own coach was the best choice of my life…because she is in  a very advanced and aware stage 3).

2. Conscious Unknown

This is when I knew I couldn’t drive a standard. I sucked at it. Same with business (or anything else, really). After being in business for a month or so, I was very much aware of how much I didn’t know. This is also great, because it opened up doors everywhere. There was opportunities in places that I never even thought to look! And because I had someone who knew where they were (and how to get there…and how to open the door and fit in with the crowd beyond it) my transition through these stages was much smoother than most!

3. Conscious Known

I could finally drive a standard. I just wasn’t very good at it. This is the fine line between knowing you don’t know something…and just starting to try it. At this point all you can do is practice, hope for the best and don’t give up! It takes effort, but you’re also starting to see results (I finally got out of the driveway without stalling, and no longer accidentally spun my tires when shifting to first gear).

In my business, things were starting to take off, but it still took a lot of conscious effort! I spent countless hours screwing up my autoresponders, getting the forms wrong, and straightening out my messes! There were so many times when I would get something “just right.” Then my intuition would start bothering me….”you better recheck that.” So I would, and of course, I’d missed something! (I got really good at listening to my intuition!). It took all of the screws up to grow my understanding. If you want to know the ins and outs of your business, you need to learn to do it yourself at first. You’ll grow as a person, and you’ll really appreciate how much work it is when you can hand it off to someone else!

Ideally you will get to an advanced stage of conscious knowing, at least for the majority of your life. I’m not saying that you need to think through every thing you do, but being present as you do it will create appreciation and gratefulness for the small things in life.

4. Unconscious Known

This is a habit. And this isn’t necessarily the place you want to be in life. I’ll explain in a second, first the analogy.

Now I am at the unconscious know state in driving my car. I shift easily, without jerking or spinning my tires, or even noticing. It feel completely natural. In fact, I can’t remember what the big deal was about learning in the first place. I have this assumption than anyone can do it, and that it is really simple. Not a problem!

There are some things in my business that are at this point…my autoresponder is one of them (at least until I switched software, which I did about 2 months ago and the process started all over again!). Now, you might be thinking that this is the ideal place to be. But it isn’t. Do you really want to go through life, unconscious? Uh uh, you sure don’t.

This is what they’re talking about avoiding when they say, “live in the moment.” Again, it’s not that you need to put a lot of effort into thinking about the process for everything you do. But at least do it, aware that you’re doing it! Sometimes I have a bad habit of driving somewhere, caught up in my thoughts, and I arrive at my destination not really knowing how I got there. That is the kind of unconscious known I want to avoid.

What stage are you in right now? Where do you want to be?

If you are in stage 1 or 2 and want life to get a little easier, the fastest way to get there is to find someone who has gone through and get them to “show you the way!”

How to Discover Your Authentic Life

Obviously being an Authentic-Life coach, my clients come to me when they need some help sorting through some issues, finding their voice or breaking free from their victim story. To help them through this, one of the first things I do with my VIP clients is establish their Life Vision.

A life vision looks at the 8 ares of life, and can help to create a life where all parts are working in harmony together. After creating your vision you discover which areas you are happiest, and which areas need a little effort.

We go through a series of questions together, and at the end the client has a much clearer picture of what their authentic life can look like with a few mindset changes and some action principles.

So how can you discover your authentic life (and bring in health, wealth and happiness) without a coach to guide you?

  1. Look at the 8 life areas in detail, as they are for you right now. (Use my Authentic Life checklist in my toolkit. Sign up to get it with a free Basic Membership to Authentic Self at http://www.kimberlyenglot.com).
  2. Describe how you want these areas to look in an ideal world.
  3. Compare the two pictures.
  4. Create an “order” for God (or the Universe). Your order is your plan to change. For example, you want to spend more time with your family and less time at work. Your order might look like this (make sure you place it in the present tense): I am spending more time with my kids because I only work 40 hours a week, instead of 60.” Don’t worry about how, just be open to this happening.
  5. Practice gratitude. Nothing makes you feel better about your life as it is right now than realizing how wonderful it really is. Practice this daily.

The great this about discovering your authentic life is that it doesn’t have to be a difficult process. This month I am also offering a one time event to help you do just that, for free. You get over 10 hours of audio from top experts in each of the 8 life areas. My experts are revealing how they discovered their authentic life. Go to http://www.discoveryourauthenticlife.com for more information or register for free. (This offer expires on Nov. 20, so make sure you go now!).

Clear Up Your Space

Everything is energy. You know that. Did you ever stop to think that this also refers to the fact that energy can be stored? Have you ever thought about the energy stored in your home — energy that isn’t necessarily yours? I didn’t until I listened to a video blog by Feng Shui expert,  Sheri Ruston (the Flow Doctor) about space clearing.

I have never thought about it before, but there is residual energy in your home and it might be affecting you. Forget ghosts…you can experience this even if you live in a new house (Were you stressed or anxious while building it? Any stressful factors for any of the construction crew?) You can “feel” the energy if you pay attention.

When my husband and I purchased our house 2 years ago, we were excited. But when we moved in, I felt the need to paint everything! I had to remove the essence of the old owners…make the house ours. You can argue that my actions were purely for aesthetic reasons, but I believe differently. And the house has truly become ours. I feel really good when I walk in the door. I look around and feel that the home reflects us. It’s a safe place where I can get away from the world, relax, unwind and have fun with my family.

If you don’t feel that way about your home, take a walk around it and intentionally feel the energy around it. Does one room make you feel cranky? Before I Feng Shui-ed my office, I had an area in it that I didn’t like to be in. I couldn’t write. My computer and the internet would disconnect and lock up. I spent a lot of my time at the kitchen table or in my bedroom (big no- no by the way — no electronics in the bedroom!) because my writing flowed better there. I rearranged some things, banished the bad energy and now I can write freely and my computer works much better.

Have a clean, happy space is one of the most important things you can do to live a more authentic life. It is so difficult to concentrate on things that are important if you have clutter or bad energy flowing through your home!

If you believe that everything is energy, how can you not believe this ?! Listen to my archived show with Sheri on Authentic Self radio and learn even more. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/authentic-self.

How to Set ANY Relationship Up for Long Term Success

Today on Authentic Self radio I am talking to Marie Forleo. Through her dynamic training products and coaching programs, Marie educates and inspires with a rare mix of humor,Marie Forleo book wisdom, and razor-sharp insight. She is well known for her down to earth, tell-it-like-it-is style. Marie is the Fox News online relationship expert as well as the author of Make Every Man Want You: How To Be So Irresistible You’ll Barely Keep From Dating Yourself! Which is the topic for today’s show! It’s a really fun, light hearted book that will get you in authentic self mode in no time.

Ladies, it’s not just for single gals either…I’m married (and my husband thought I was nuts, but I told him it was research  ) and I got a lot out of it. It is a simple, easy to read guide to living authentically. It just happens to also be a relationship book.

Definitely check it out whether you’re looking for a relationship or not. Now Marie’s book is not the topic for this post, but the theme. The book (and Marie too) is all about being yourself. And that really is the key to a long lasting, satisfying relationship. You can’t go in pretending to be something you’re not. If you don’t like jazz music, it’s okay. Don’t pretend to like it and then spend the next 6 months (or 6 years) listening to stuff that makes you cringe.  Same with food, movies, sports, friends. Value yourself and your opinions enough to be honest. If you have to pretend to get someone to like you, they don’t really like YOU!

The secret is to be yourself. That it. Be your regular, fun loving, authentic self! When you are focused on what is in front of you, and being the very best YOU that you can be at that moment, you’ll naturally attractive. Men love a gal who is comfortable in her own skin, has an opinion, is kind, and loves to have fun. That describes you, I know it does!

Check out today’s show to find out more information, you will love every minute of this interview, I promise!!!

7 Principles to Happiness

I wrote an article about six months ago titled 7 “Secrets” to Living an Extraordinary Life and it got a huge response from people.
Because of the wonderful response I have decided to feature it and talk about it more in depth in the re-launch for my radio show, Authentic Life, today. They are simpler than you think!

  1. Be a class act and act with integrity.
  2. Choose to be around people you admire.
  3. Always act with intention.
  4. Act as if THIS is “IT.”
  5. Put yourself back on your list.
  6. Strive for success and all that success brings, but don’t get too caught up in it.
  7. Listen to your intuition and don’t second-guess your decisions.

That’s it. As I said, they’re simple, but I understand that this doesn’t necessarily mean easy. Join me today on Authentic Life at 4:30 MT (5:30 CT, 6:30 ET, 3:30 PT) to hear more, or listen to the replay later. Just go to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/authentic-life for the live show and the replay afterwards. What is your life vision?

By Kimberly Englot

If a client were to ask me what the #1 thing  was that they could to do to instantly improve their life I would tell them to get a very clear life vision.

You probably have a vague idea about what you want your life to be like.  That’s the problem…it’s vague. Your life vision must elicit a strong feeling. You have to know instantly whether something fits into your life vision or not, and you will get that from feelings.

The only way to get these strong feelings is to get your life vision crystal clear. Call it a vision board if you want, but it can also be in the form of a journal, or an audio recording. Whatever works for you. You must be incredibly detailed. Include all of the 8 life areas in detail (health/wellness, finances, career, family/friends, relationships, personal development (spiritual development, community involvement), fun/recreation/relaxation, physical environment/home).

Questions and ideas to get you started include:

  • What is your physical appearance life? What kind of clothes do you have? Are you active? Do you eat well? What is your diet like?
  • Describe all of your main relationships. What is your marriage like? Or do you choose to stay single, or in a committed relationships without marriage?
  • What do you do for fun? Are you on sports teams? Do you volunteer? What kind of clubs are you in?
  • What would you do if you knew there was no chance of failure? You were 100% guaranteed to succeed.
  • What kind of books do you read? What kind of people do you surround yourself with?
  • What kind of goals do you have?
  • How much do you have saved up? What kind of car do you have?
  • What is your home like? What kind of feelings do you get when you walk in the door?
  • Describe your personality/manner. Are you laid-back? Are you incredibly active? Are you able to talk to everyone you meet, or do you carefully weigh your words?

There is no right or wrong answer with this, and no “shoulds” allowed. Do not judge yourself while you’re doing this activity. You will likely hear you inner critic yipping at you, just ignore it (I’ll explain how to deal with that inner critic later). The only catch with this…you must be 100% honest with yourself.

Do not say you want to run a marathon or write a book, if you hate running and don’t read. It’s okay. This vision must be yours, and only yours. Do not adjust it to be “suitable” for your husband, your sister, or your neighbor down the street. This is your life. Get your life vision clear.
