Take Time Out [Authentic Self newsletter]

Good Morning!

I am having trouble with my autoresponder, so this week’s newsletter is blog-style! Think of it as a sneak-peak for those of you who aren’t subscribers yet!

As most of you know, I’ve been working very hard on my newest project Authentic Weight Loss and the action guide: Eat, Shrink & Be Happy. I get really inspired, excited and enthusiastic and often forget to stop and take a breather. To be honest, I usually need to take a bit of a vaction after I finish a project, just to recover! I’m not complaining at all, but yesterday I chat with an awesome friend made me realize exactly what I was doing — rushing!

This is completely obvious to me….now! But I have been so caught up in everything the last couple of weeks that I didn’t realize it. My friend, Michelle Gabriel     (http://www.michelle-gabriel.com) is a Law of Attraction and Consciousnes expert. We had a 20 minute chat yesterday that had me feeling relaxed and at ease in no time. She taught me a couple of exercises and I want to share what I learned with you.

  • Even when you’re excited and inspired, take time out to chill once in a while. There is no rush; Everything happens when it is supposed to.
  • There is no such thing as time, only right now and God/the Universe is always perfect (and therefore you are perfect too).
  • You actually cancel out some of your authenticity by rushing and pushing. It needs time to catch up with you!
  • Your authentic self can shine through (and much brighter) when you are relaxed and at peace.

I actually got this idea from another great in the field of consciousness (it was either Joe Vitale or James Ray…I can’t remember):

When you are in a hurry, you are coming from a place of fear. Basically to rush, or to hurry along means that you are afraid of missing out.

In my enthusiasm I got too caught up and started to miss out on life, it was only 2 weeks, but still! I got swept away with the…”I’ll enjoy it when…” myth and complete took myself out of the present moment!

Take time out today, from whatever you are doing, no matter how important you think it is and just be. Just enjoy your surroundings. Take in your environment and do a body check with how you’re feeling.

Thought of the Week:

“Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.”

Are you in a hurry to get things done? Rush & rush until life's no fun?

“I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is
live and die
But, I’m in a hurry and don’t know why

Don’t know why
I have to drive so fast
My
car has nothing to prove
It’s not new, but it’ll do 0 to 60 in 5.2 !

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But, I’m in a hurry and don’t know why

Can’t be late
I leave in plenty of time
Shakin, hands with the clock
I can’t stop
I’m on a roll and I’m ready to rock!

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But, I’m in a hurry and don’t know why

I hear a voice
It says I’m running behind
I better pick up my pace
It’s a race and there ain’t no room for someone in second place

I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh, I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But, I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.”

Those are the lyrics to the song, “I’m In a Hurry” by Alabama. I grew up loving that song! I viewed it as a theme song for my life. I was continually in a rush, but I never really knew why. I was running around from one thing to another always telling myself that I would take time to enjoy life after (insert whatever I was working on)…But I never did.

I was constanly trying to fill an internal void with external success, and so happiness and peace always eluded me. Then a HUGE thought hit me!

What if all of this rushing around was making me miss out, and my life was actually great just as it was! Couldn’t I be happy right at this very moment? Why did  I have to wait to be happy?

Could I take time to enjoy what I was doing in any one moment, rather than rushing to get something done just to start to rushing for something else. That obviously wasn’t working for me. I was stressed all the time, and unhappy. And I never did take time afterwards to enjoy my life. What if  life wasn’t a race? What if it didn’t matter if I came in second?

So, I tried something new. I begin living like THIS is it! Instead of putting off getting nice sheets, I bought them, and enjoy them! I lit the fancy candles I was saving for a special occassion, and made that occassion special! I gave myself a facial, and read that book I was pushing to the bottom of my to do list. Doing all of these supposed small things, made me realize how great my life really was.

Life is great right now!

I can really see what I was doing to myself before. I was letting my life rush past me, and not enjoying a minute of it — under the illusion that getting “life” out of the way first would make life more enjoyable later. I’m so glad I found the real secret to happiness, before it was too late.

What are you rushing to finish right now? Will you take the time to love your family after you get that promotion, or can you do that right now? What are you waiting for?
