Are you living someone else’s life?

You woke up this morning, looked at your To Do list and realized that not one single thing excites you. In fact, you’re ready to…

…run for the hills and never return (and if it weren’t for your kids, you probably would). Or

…climb back into bed and pull the covers over your head.

But you’re a good girl, so you get ready for the day…like it’s any other day. And inside you are silently screaming (or worse, completely dead), wishing something would change.

You’re living your life according to someone else’s definition of who you SHOULD be and how you SHOULD behave.

It only takes ONE Second for you to decide to live your life according to your dreams!

You can decide right now to grab the opportunity to design the life you deserve, according to YOU. You can identify the self-sabotage and limiting beliefs that are chaining you to your current circumstances and guaranteeing that you stay there.

It’s TIME for you to reach your potential and acknowledge that you’re destined for something BIG! You can exceed your expectations and live the life you are dreaming about (but hiding and not daring to tell anyone about).

I need guidance because what I’m doing isn’t working.

My life is screwed up. I’m 45 and I don’t have a clue what I’m doing. My husband and I barely speak. I’m lucky if we spent 2 hours together last week. We live completely separate lives.
I’m gaining weight (about 15 lbs in the last 4 months).
I’m stressed and tired all the time, and I’m taking it out on my kids.
I don’t like who I am right now. I don’t want to wake up in 30 years and feel regret at how I ‘could have been’ happy but I missed the opportunity.
Help!

I’m sorry life feels so hard right now. This is something I regularly guide my clients on, I have a few suggestions to get you started.

Persevere. Now that you recognize you need help, take the next step and find someone to help you! There is a huge cultural limiting belief that ‘I have to do it alone’ or ‘Asking for help is weak,’ and that’s a bunch of bull. Who can you go to for support? Do you have anyone in your life that is completely NON-Judgmental and will support you during this? It’s important they hold you accountable to what you say you want (and help you figure that out) but also have a connection and a deep level of trust. If you don’t feel safe with anyone, find a coach. Life is short and you DON’T want to wake up with regrets.
.

Self Care! This topic is a favorite of mine right now, and I dedicate an entire section of my Resilience. Happiness. Success Virtual Mastery. One thing I will suggest that will immediately improve your life is to ask yourself:

“What one routine can I immediately put into place that will dramatically improve my life?”

Example: If you’re deprived of sleep, which affects everything from your weight to your relationships, put a routine in place that allows you to be in bed by 11pm no matter what.

No excuses. No saying, ‘well, I couldn’t because…’ Just do it. It may be hard at first but it’s vital you instill this habit. To NOT do so, you’re saying to the Universe, everyone around you, and yourself: ‘I’m not important. You come first.‘

Those are the 2 most important things you can do to turn your life around right now. You deserve to be happy, and it isn’t that hard, but you do need support. If you’re looking for more support around this topic, check out my Resilience. Happiness. Success virtual mastery. We go into great detail to help you develop the confidence to move forward, and change the thinking ‘I can’t do it.’ By the end of it, I guarantee you’ll have clarity, priorities and a direction that will allow you to confidently go after your dream.

Learn more here. Actually, go there right now, if only to watch my entire story. You can see for yourself how important these characteristics are. Click here now.

1/11/11: Yesterday WAS a special day in history.

Yes, it was a cool date. It had special numerological meaning, and was memorable. For that reason alone, I chose it to launch my book “The Now of Happiness: Your Official Happiness Formula.” But I became a little disturbed by the sheer emphasis some people where giving it. I overhead things like,

What a unique day. This will NEVER happen again, and is a great time to step back and examine where you are.

I’m paraphrasing, but every time someone emphasized how significant yesterday was because of the number, I though to myself

Every day is like that. Every day is significant because it only comes around once. In fact every single moment, of every day is significant. It’s called your life. And you only have right NOW to live it.

And it’s true. Will YOU ever see January 12, 2011 again? Will you ever see Jan. 13, 2011 again? Why are people making an external situation so significant? So I encourage you to take time today, to realize that today IS all you have. No matter what the date is. It is important to be happy NOW, because that’s all you have.

If you are interested in further extending your appreciation for what you have now that makes you happy.
I completely forgot to blog this week, I’ve been wrapped up in getting my book into production and getting my Happiness Movement site up and running!

As 2010 reaches the beginning of the end (can you believe it?) I am thinking about my Top 10′s! This week I decided to share with you my Top 10 Books of the year.

I will likely do lists for Top 10 Books of the Decade, Top 10 Quotes of 2010, and Top 10 Favorite People too, so look for those through this month.

In no particular order, here are the best books that I’ve read in 2010…

Trust Your Vibes: Secret tools for six-sensory living, Sonia Choquette
FANTASTIC resource for discovering your authentic self and your intuition. This book made me comfortable with reaching out to my own spirit guides and trusting in a higher source of guidance.

Be Happy: Release the power of happiness within you, Robert Holden
I’m currently reading it and finding it slow going because I have to keep stopping to write out quotes and passages! It’s a very “common” sense approach to a topic that many have written about (including myself).

Excuses Begone: How to change life-long, self-defeating habits, Dr. Wayne Dyer
If you find yourself stuck and aren’t sure what to do, Get This Book! This book will force you to get real and get back into your life. Take a No Excuses Approach to 2011…it’s your life!

The Joy Diet: Ten practices for a happier life, Martha Beck
Always necessary in any personal development library, Martha Beck is no-nonsense, sarcastic and funny! I love her. This is NOT a diet book in the traditional sense. It’s 10 steps to living a happier life. (I love the step that involves “treats.”)

Steering by Starlight: Finding your right life, not matter what, Martha Beck
Oh, Martha, how I love you! This is another amazing book. She gives you the courage (and a plan) to leave behind all the Junk that isn’t working and start living a happier, healthier life.

Supercoach: Ten secrets to transform anyone’s life, Michael Neill
Another “10 Step” book, this one also written in down-to-earth language. Michael has an NLP background and has a way of explaining things that makes you go, “Huh. Why didn’t I think of that?” I love his section on making decisions!

Creating Money: Attracting abundance, Sanaya Roman
I read this in the spring and wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. It’s a Law of Attraction book, specifically about wealth and prosperity. It’s full of exercises and positive affirmations. You’ll love this book if you life Louise Hay.

Blink: The power of thinking without thinking, Malcolm Gladwell
Another author I cannot get enough of! (Please write more books Mr. Gladwell!) He takes concepts that seem almost mystical and with real life examples, he breaks them down so the normal person can relate. I love how he wrote a book about intuition, using science and real life to explain it.

You Can Heal Your Life, Louise Hay
I just finished this book and I LOVED IT, even though I resisted reading it for a long time. It’s full of positive affirmations and ways to get over the humps that life throws your way. I highly recommend you buy the DVD/Book set (it’s only a dollar or two more expensive than the books itself and I felt so peaceful and joyous after watching it!) The book also includes her affirmations for physical ailments. I was amazed at how many of my own health “problems” came down to an inner belief about myself. Most of them were right on with what I thought to be true, deep down (but not any more )

Outliers: The story of success, Malcolm Gladwell
This book was about those who are incredibly successful (he features Bill Gates) and why some succeeded and others didn’t. Again, it’s a fascinating mix of science, real life and the seemingly mystical. It will help you understand what it takes to be successful.

Honourable Mentions to Effortless Success an audio program by Michael Neill and Ask Y our Guides: Connecting to your divine support system by Sonia Choquette.

It was really hard to choose just 10 (or 12), but these are the books that I didn’t abandon half way through AND I constantly found myself quoting them on Facebook, raving about them to my friends and/or using them for reference in my Premium Membership and coaching calls. As you can see, when I like an author I tend to really like them (and obsess, crush on, fall in love with…which makes me their new best friend because I buy ALL their stuff!)

Check them out as you usher in an even more successful 2011!

Even better, check out my book The Now of Happiness: Your Happiness Formula on January 11, 2011! Get on the red-carpet list so you’re the first to receive a copy.

I don’t know where the month of October went! Crazy how time is flying by.

I need to remind you that the next Premium Membership call will be sent out on October 25. It was supposed to be live, but I’ve over-scheduled myself, and to be honest the recording quality is just sooo much better when I record using my sound software rather than with the bridgeline.

I’m giving those interested in joining us for the ride a chance to do it a half price if you join today for $10 a month!

This article is a special report on it’s own! Because it’s so long, I have decided to spread it out and make it a 2-part series. Look for a podcast version by October 4, and don’t forget about the FREE Teleseminar with Randi Pierce on October 7 to learn even more!

You have suffered a trauma, betrayal or some kind of setback in your life. It might be you found out your husband has cheated on you, or that your closest colleague at work has be sabotaging you and stealing your ideas. Maybe you’ve had a health scare, a mole or lump that turned out to be nothing but caused many sleepless nights in the mean time.

It doesn’t matter what the trauma is, the reality is you have come face-to-face with the idea that you don’t like what your life looks like right now. Somehow the real You got lost along this path called life, and you are ready to get Her back.

Here are 5 steps to build your resilience, help you bounce back, build a stronger foundation, and discover the real you along the way. The result is a happier, healthier and richer life than anything you could have built while stuck in your old, numb, life.

1. Relax on the positive thinking.

Don’t try to force feeling good, just work on feeling better.

This goes against a lot of self help experts and their advice. But the only thing worse than betrayal or trauma is having people tell you to see the bright side of things and be grateful. I’m all for positive thinking, I teach it and use it in my own life, but there is a difference between faking happiness and feeling better. You can act happy, but you are lying to yourself, and nothing is more poisonous to your spirit than lying to it. This causes more harm than good and you cannot use happiness as a band-aid to hide behind. You will be happy again, but you have to ease your way up to it rather than try to jump in immediately.

Right now you do not feel good. You are depressed, anxious, resentful or angry. You might be crying a lot, eating emotionally (or not eating), sleeping more than usual (or not sleeping), or drinking to ease the pain. Deal with that first. Abraham-Hicks teaches moving up the emotional scale. Instead of trying to go from depressed to joyful or thankful or even hopeful, find something that gives you relief. For example, when I come across someone who is purposely trying to ruin my day, burst my bubble or is just out-right vicious (I call them Trolls and they are a type of toxic person), I used to get down on myself, doubt myself and curl up in a ball to cry and give up. Now I work on feeling better, not worse, so I usually picture the troll in a funny, but unfortunate experience. Maybe the troll spends her next date with spinach in her teeth the whole time. Or maybe the troll’s dog pees on him. These are imaginary circumstances that make me feel better. Yes they’re mean and they’re vengeful, but the point it to feel better, not act anything out…and it works like a charm.

Imagine your cheating spouse wearing expensive khakis to a meeting with an important client, and sitting on chocolate pudding. Then laugh your butt off.

2. Revisit the past briefly.

Why did this happen? Look back for the gifts so you can build a better future, but be careful not to dwell.

This is probably the hardest exercise to building up your resilience muscles, but it’s also vital to your success. In my own life, and with those of the people I work with, the crummiest situations are the ones that turn out to be blessings in disguise (and I realize this is cliché, but it is true).

Take a completely unrelated part of your life that is going well. Then look backward and follow the circumstances that occurred for it to work out so well. This I best demonstrated with another example from my own life.

When my husband and I were looking to buy our home, we were newly weds, with brand new university degrees and jobs that were less than ideal. We had run down old cars and I had a big fat student loan to pay back, let’s just say we were not rolling in money and trying to buy in a sellers market was scary. But we knew that if we were every going to be able to afford anything, we had to buy. So we jumped in with our tiny down payment and looked at what we could afford.

It was heartbreaking, finding beautiful homes way outside our price range, and then looking at what we could actually afford in the city. We decided we would have better luck in the suburbs and expanded our search. BINGO! We found something good enough that had been on the market for several months and was just outside our price range, but with some belt-tightening and financial manoeuvring it could be done. We put in an offer for full asking price, made sure our agent let the buyers know we were serious and this was the best we could do. We figured that since the house had been for sale for awhile, and since we were offering full asking, it was a done deal.

Wrong. My heart was broken and I was angry at the obvious greed of the sellers. I remember crying to my husband because I felt like it was my fault that we couldn’t afford more. I was the one with the crappy job, and the huge student loan.

Luckily, I pulled myself together and I have a very patient husband who assured me that something better was out there, we just hadn’t found it yet.

Less than a week later the perfect house appeared only 2 blocks away from the other one. And it was perfect. I had a huge lot, mini fruit orchard, lots of grass a two car garage and another garage/man-shed. The house was perfect for two young professionals starting out. It was also priced to sell, and for some reason there were only 2 other offers on the table. Ours was the best and 6 weeks later, just in time for our first anniversary, we were settled in.

Here is what came out of NOT getting what I thought was my perfect house: I got something much better. I got a bigger yard, space for both of our vehicles and slightly closer to amenities. Even though we bid more than the asking price, it was still easily affordable, and did not add financial strain. I changed jobs 6 months after that, where I began to make more money and my husband got a raise. Then I decided to go full force with my business and I could afford to do it because we didn’t have the strain of a mortgage we couldn’t afford. Oh, and we both got to upgrade our vehicles.

Looking back now, I see what the first house was not meant for me, but at the time it broke my heart.

I can also see how several of the jobs I held in the past prepared me for my true calling by teaching me patience, empathy and non-judgment, even though several of them caused me great anxiety and depression while I worked in them.

Everything has a way of working out in the end, honest.

“In the end it will be okay. If it’s not okay, then it’s not the end.” Unknown

So look back at your life. How have major disappointments made you stronger and helped you develop into the person you are today?
