To be properly balanced, you need to be unbalanced!
Yes. You read that right!
I hear so many people preach balance in life. And the rest of us try to live up to that, and then feel bad because we never really get there. Guess what, it’s all a scam, there is no such thing as balance! Actually, (and I’ve said this many times) if you want to be balanced, you need to allow “unbalance” in.
I listened to an interview with Jame Arthur Ray, and he says aim for harmony in your life, not balance. When things are properly balanced, nothing is happening. Think of a scale, when 2 things are in balance on a scale there is no movement. So to aim for a balanced life means that you do not move…AT ALL. No growth…and I would consider that unbalanced.
So instead (and according to James Ray) aim for harmony. Harmony refers to being able to have everything in play at the same time, with a main focus on one thing for a while. Then you switch focus and something else gets your attention. This doesn’t mean ignoring everything else, and is more like the lives that most of us lead – or at least are aiming for.
I think there is a little bit of confusion with the word balance in itself. I think when people talk, they mean harmony, not balance. Balance brings up thoughts of life perfection, and that is an impossible task. Plus, who really has the energy to spend that much time, just trying to be perfect?
So seek Harmony and leave true balance to the scales at the doctor’s office, your authentic self will be very relieved and you’ll feel more peaceful!
7 Principles to Happiness
I wrote an article about six months ago titled 7 “Secrets” to Living an Extraordinary Life and it got a huge response from people.
Because of the wonderful response I have decided to feature it and talk about it more in depth in the re-launch for my radio show, Authentic Life, today. They are simpler than you think!
- Be a class act and act with integrity.
- Choose to be around people you admire.
- Always act with intention.
- Act as if THIS is “IT.”
- Put yourself back on your list.
- Strive for success and all that success brings, but don’t get too caught up in it.
- Listen to your intuition and don’t second-guess your decisions.
That’s it. As I said, they’re simple, but I understand that this doesn’t necessarily mean easy. Join me today on Authentic Life at 4:30 MT (5:30 CT, 6:30 ET, 3:30 PT) to hear more, or listen to the replay later. Just go to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/authentic-life for the live show and the replay afterwards. Gratitute Challenge
If you follow me at all, you know that since I have finished my Master Life Cleanse Program in June, I have been writing 10 things I’m grateful for at the end of each day, and completing a minimum of one round of EFT. This is had made a huge difference in how I feel. I am peaceful, centered and balanced. Opportunities are being presented to me out of what I would think to be “no where” and I am incredibly happy, for no reason.
I have challenged all of my Authentic Self Newsletter subscribers to do the same.
The last 9 days I have been away. I was camping with my family in the woods. I love camping. I get to get away from everything. Leave the city, the responsibilities and the stress behind me to truly experience nature. It’s still, peaceful and quiet. It’s something I look forward to every summer. Of course, this meant that I was leaving behind all technology, and because I felt “away” from it all, I slacked off in doing my gratitudes and EFT.
I got home yesterday and decided that I was going to write 50 gratitudes. At first I doubted I could do it. I kept making deals with myself. If I could just get to 20, maybe 25, maybe 35. But I got to 50 relatively easily. Now this has as a number of “lessons” written into it:
- You never know unless you try
- Don’t discount yourself
- You can come up with an infinite amount of things to be thankful for if you truly try
I also have to admit that besides feeling really, really good after it was an excellent way to spend 30 minutes completely present in my life.
If you need a little bit of perspective in you life, or just need to re-connect with your authentic self, I highly encourage you to take 30 minutes out of your day and write down 50 things you are grateful for. You’ll feel so wonderful after you just might make it a habit!
