The end of January is traditionally a low time of year for people. The holidays are well behind us, and for some the bills are coming in. I know I’ve been feeling a bit low myself the last couple of weeks, it’s just that time of year.
But it doesn’t have to be like that. I debated in my head over the kind of article I wanted to bring to you. I had a couple of my own kicking around, I even have an idea in my head waiting to be written –but none of them were right. They just didn’t have the right energy.
Then I got the following newsletter from one of the lists I’m one. Katie’s article was perfect, and I wanted to share it.
It’s especially helpful to see the small things that you can do to shift your energy. Simply taking good care of yourself and being more aware (or more sensitive) to the small details can drastically change how you’re feeling.
Try a couple of them. I know I did, and my mood has shifted.
Making Feng Shui Personal — Keeping Yourself Fresh and Energized
Let’s talk about a few of the ways you apply feng shui to yourself to stay fresh and energized…. Your signature says it all. My mentor and feng shui master, Lillian Too, often recommended people make changes to their signatures to give them more influence. Some signatures have letters that curl backwards — this means lackluster growth and success. Some tilt left — this causes the same problem. Even the graphic above shows writing that tilts to the right and looks like it’s going forward. Look at your signature and make sure yours says “affluence” and that it tilts right and up — not left and backwards. A client of mine had a tough time being promoted even though his income kept going up; he simply never got the nod. I told him his signature tilted backwards — as though he turned his back on others or looked backwards. In fact, all his writing has a tendency to lean left. He changed his signature and the money flowed into his life — and he leap-frogged at his job being promoted up two levels! Is your signature squeezed and tight? Money will be tight too. Get your signature flowing and watch the money flow with it! This may sound strange but your email address conveys ideas about you to the people who read it. What we call ourselves can influence the way we are treated by others. If you have a negative email Like hair color commercial says, “You’re worth it.” Do you do little things for yourself that make you feel pampered? I set up a tea tray by my office with a Do your best to beautify yourself. Everyone feels better when they look better. Get to a new stylist, or a make-up counter at a department What makes you feel inspired? We all need something that lifts our sights. I like to find my inspiration at my desk because I spend a lot Open your eyes to your habits of speech, your writing, your email name, even your resistance to change and openness to receive. This is part of applying feng shui to yourself and to your life, to keeping energy positive

Criss Angel & The Law of Attraction
I was watching Criss Angel Mindfreak late last night with my husband. (I think that it’s the coolest show ever! Magic and illusions have always fascinated me, ever since watching David Copperfield perform on TV…and doing that “press your finger to the tv on one of the 12 symbols” at 10 years old. Does anyone else remember that?)
Anyway, one of the “tricks” he did involved using energy to get a long lost friend to call a participant.
Let me explain…
So Criss explained to everyone that everything is energy and that a bunch of people, thinking positively about one thing, could in fact cause that very thing to come into reality (aka “manifest” according to us Law of Attraction people).
He had a group of maybe, 100 -150 people, and he made a big deal out of randomly tossing his wrist band, and then having that person toss it again, and then toss it again. So he was separated from the first person 2x.
Then he picked 10 others and lined them up. He walked back and forth in front of them until the other person (the one who caught the wrist band) said “stop.”
All completely randomized.
He stopped on command in front of a young woman with the coolest hair I’ve ever seen. (It was short and had crazy pink streaks. I loved it!)
He asked her, (I’ll call her Jen, but I can’t remember her real name) to hand over her cell phone. Criss gave it to the other girl who had caught the wrist band.
He then asked “jen” to think of someone who she hasn’t talked to in a while, and really wanted to hear from. He asked her to vaguely describe her. Jen talked about Sloane, who is 5′8″, thin, long dark hair, curvy.
Criss asked everyone to think of Sloane. To picture her sillouette, while thinking (but not saying out loud) “Call, Sloane, call!”
Of course, Criss made it dramatic and he got progressively louder. After the 5th “call, Sloane, call!” The phone went off!!!
Guess who it was…Yep. It was a text message from Sloane saying, “Hey [jen] just thinking about you, haven’t talked in a while. Call me.”
Crazy!!! It gets better. Jen hadn’t talked to Sloane in nearly 7 years. They were previously really close.
All I could say was, wow. But I wasn’t really surpirsed. My husband that it was a load of wack, but how can you argue with that? Really.. How else can you explain that?
Point to ponder: What are you thinking? Are you dialed in to group think, in a bad way? Or are you consciously creating your own reality?
I tried to find the segment on You-Tube. It’s not available any more, or maybe I just couldn’t find it. If anyone knows the episode I’m talking about, and knows where to find it online, let me know and I’ll post a link to it.
Calm things down in the bedroom!
Got your attention with that title, didn’t I? This article is actually about sleep…the other activity done in the bedroom.
Sleep is important, but it’s often a struggle. Between too much to do, minor emergencies throughout the day, and over-active imaginations, it can be impossible to get a good night’s sleep.
Because feeling good is such a huge part of living an authentic life, and sleep is required to feel good (and set your energy field straight) I have an exercise I want you to try so that you can “calm down” before you go to bed at night.
A very important part of sleeping well is having a routine. This signifies to your body and mind to slow down. (Eventually this imprints in your behavior and a wonderful habit is formed).
I make sure I’m off the computer and out of my office by 9 pm each night. This makes a HUGE difference! (People can tell when I’ve stayed working past 9pm the night before).
Then I unwind (However this looks for you. Lets get personal, here. I take off my make-up and wash my face. Then I get into comfortable PJ’s or sweats and I chill out in the living room with my hubby for a bit).
About 30 minutes before I want to go to sleep I grab my Gratitude Journal and head to my bedroom. At this point, my cat, Maxx, usually follows me. See, she’s imprinted with my sleep routine too! (Also a reason why no TV’s in the bedroom is important! Beside really bad Feng Shui, it will disturb you sleep life is you want to be peaceful and your mate wants to watch Criminal Minds).
I spend about 15 minutes thinking about my day and all of the things I appreciate. You can call this “meditating” but it isn’t usually that formal. I write 10 things down. You could also just think about them, but there is something about the writing process…at least for me.
If you’re a fan of Abraham-Hicks (I am!!!) he describes my process as Priming the Pump. You want to get your mind and body (and cat, in my case) into a routine.
When you are just starting out, it might be hard for you to get to that peaceful, quiet place. I have the perfect exercise to help you! (The entire thing can be found in my Master Life Cleanse Program, I’ll share a small part of it here.)
Think about the following questions (and I would write them down):
- The best thing that happened to me today was…
- I liked that best because…
- It make me feel…
Follow those feeling and place your attention on how good you feel thinking about them.
Once you’re feeling peaceful and positive, focus your intention on getting a good night’s sleep.
Try the following mini-meditation:
I’m going to sleep now; and while I am sleeping, because my thoughts are inactive, attraction will stop and my physical body will be completely refreshed at every level when I wake up. I’ll start the day from a positive place and carry that feeling throughout my day.

Authentic Life and Happiness Tip#1
I think I need to preface this blog post by saying that I don’t just make this stuff up (well some of it comes from my authentic self, but that’s another blog). I actually test out everything I talk about in my programs, books, exercises and blogs. I’m not just out here playing pretend. With that said…
I was working through an action guide (part of Bob Doyle’s Boundless Living Challenge) because I wanted to check it out and see if it would be useful to my clients, and anyone who reads my blogs. Its a brilliant action guide full of great idea, information and very helpful questions.
Anyway, I was filling it out, thinking about my own life the past year and all of the ups/downs/surprises that have come with it. One of the exercises I found particulary helpful was writing a letter. Basically I was required to write a letter to myself, telling me all about my success throughout the year. Not necessarily bragging (although there is nothing wrong with a confidence or self-esteem booster exercise) but definitely stating the things I should be proud of. I was also supposed to give myself permission to let things go. To stop holding on to mistakes, or things that I should have done but didn’t get to. Once completed, it left me with a page long letter to myself. It was the perfect exercise to get me back in the moment, but also to congratulate myself on my success and let go of any unresolved punishment.
I encourage you to do the same. We get into a habit of focusing so much on what we’ve done wrong. Take time to acknowledge what you’ve done (and are doing right!). You’ll feel great after, it will shift your focus and your energy and you have something to look back on when you need a bit of happiness in your day.
Try it.
“Tiredness Experiment” — Using the Law of Attraction to boost energy
I mentioned on last week’s Authentic Life show, that I would be talking with Brandi Heuchert, a health and wellness consultant, about how she used the LOA to change her thinking, and boost her energy levels. Now, I don’t have a lot of background information on this, experiment she did (she kept it a bit “Top Secret” from me) but I have the basic idea. She made the decision to shift her focus from being tired to having abundant energy.

- Listen to your intuition and don’t second-guess your decisions.
