Abundance Affirmation
“It is my mind that creates my experiences.
I am unlimited in my ability to create good in my life.”
Do positive thinkers need to grow up and get real?
I had an outstanding day yesterday. One of the many things that made me so happy:
I bought a new printer a few days ago, and had to take it back. When I took it back to exchange it for one that didn’t jam up every time I tried to print, I actually was given money back. Yep, the printer had since gone on sale and I exchanged it for a new one, plus they gave me money in return! I felt so much better after 2 days of a stupid printer that didn’t work. NOTICE, that is all about my perspective on that outcome? (I could have been angry, yelled at the customer service agent, demanded my money back, went to another store and purchased a similar printer for more money. That is probably how I would have acted a few years ago.)
So, I had a good day. This morning I woke up to find someone had commented on one of my blog posts…YAY! I thought, I am uplifted whenever anyone takes the time to comment. But this was a TROLL. Yikes. Yuck. Ick.
I sent the comment to the trash because I don’t need anyone smearing ME with THEIR “junk” but basically I was told that I was naive and “to grow up.” (The issue was a post I wrote about the power of positive, group thinking, comparing it to a Criss Angel episode I watched 6 months ago).
In the last 2 or 3 years I have discovered that (GASP) I feel better, happier, safer, freer when I believe that positive forces rule/fuel the world. I am happier when I CHOOSE to see the positive aspects of my life, and the examples in it. Do I believe everything anyone tells me? No. I am the first to check out www.Snopes.comwhenever I’m sent a crazy email. Do I believe everything that Criss Angel (a paid illusionist) does is pure and real? No, but at that point in my life I was searching for a sign, and I think I got one. Does that make me naive? Maybe in some people’s eyes.
I the end I am happy and my family is happy. What else matters? I am going to continue choosing to absorb the positive vibes of those around me, and deflect the negative ones. There is enough “junk” in this world, and I have my own to deal with, I don’t need yours! (And you don’t need mine).
How to Guarantee a GREAT Day, Every Day
Guest post by Chris Widener
Every Monday morning I have a standing radio interview I enjoy very much. But you can imagine that it can become routine. To prevent this, the host doesn’t tell me the topic before we go live on the air—now that puts some excitement into it!
This week, he asked me: How can a person guarantee that they will have a great day, every day? Some may find that hard to answer, but for me it was easy. You see, I believe we can control our destinies and create for ourselves the kind of lives we desire. People who live based on these principles achieve what they desire, while people who live reacting to circumstances do not.
Here are the principles for having a GREAT day every day:
Focus on today only.
Yes, long-range goals are important. But our focus must be on today. My equation is that your short-term tasks, multiplied by time, equal your long-term accomplishments. With that in mind, it’s imperative that we focus on short-term because, when multiplied by time, it will eventually equal our long-term goals. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Make today the best day you have ever had. Realize that when you lay down to sleep tonight you will have just given up the only shot you will ever have at today. You only get one shot at your today, so focus intently on making it all that it possibly can be. Focus, focus, focus! When you focus on making today great, you are helping guarantee that you will make your day GREAT, every day!
Embrace your power to choose.
Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “The history of free men is never written by chance but by choice—their choice.” When your today becomes your yesterday, you will look back and realize that day was a result of your choices. “But wait Chris, what if my boss controlled my day? That isn’t my choice!” you might say. But it is your choice to work for someone else. You chose to let someone else tell you what to do. But you can control your own destiny. The moment we realize that we can exercise a powerful gift from God, namely the gift of free will and choice, is when we begin to create for ourselves a GREAT day each and every day! Take ownership of the direction of your life. Make your choices and carry them out!
Your attitude is up to you.
Yes, bad things may happen in your day. The pitcher for “Team Circumstances” may have a tremendous curveball waiting for you, and you cannot control that. You cannot control what others may do or say. But you can control your attitude. Your attitude about whatever happens to you is up to you.
When something happens to you, you have the choice: Will you let it get you down and depressed, keeping you from forging ahead and making the day the best one ever? Or will you say to yourself that, no matter what happens, you are on the path to success and no obstacle will keep you from it? Will you say, “Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose—I guess this time I lost”? Will you say, “Sometimes you win and sometimes you learn—I can really learn something from this!”?
It is all in what attitude you choose. Your attitude is up to you, and when you choose to have a great attitude, you are choosing to guarantee to have a GREAT day, every day!
Live out and act on your priorities.
So far, we have dealt with internal perspectives, and that is indeed the place to start. But the practical place is in our priorities. If we want to make our days great, then we have to live out those things that will by definition make our days great. And those things are what are important to us. They are our priorities.
So each morning, start out by asking, “What things are important to me today? What are the things I need to accomplish in order for me to lay down tonight and know that I lived a GREAT day?” Then put those in order of most important to least important.
Don’t do what is fun. Don’t do what is easy. Do what is IMPORTANT! Live out your priorities. When you do, you will guarantee that you will make your day GREAT, every day!
Tomorrow, when you wake up, go through the four following points and see if you don’t make tomorrow a GREAT day:
* Focus on today only.
* Understand that I get to choose how today will go.
* Remain in a positive attitude no matter what happens.
* Live out and act on my priorities.
Do this, and you will guarantee a GREAT day, every day.

Support and Inspiration the easy way
So last night I was reading a book (big surprise, I know) and all of a sudden it hit me!!!
Start a book club!
So many people constantly ask me what I’m reading, and where I get my inspiration, and sometimes I feel like I single handedly keep amazon.ca in business (I’m sure the ladies at the post office think I’m nuts for all of the packages that come in for me!) AND I have been asked to participate in so many books launches that I am turning them down…because I can’t read the books fast enough to okay them before I recommend them.
So my solution? To turn what I love to do into a group for other people who love to do it too! Now, because I just got the idea last night the details aren’t completely ironed out yet, BUT I have some ideas.
- I pick the books and lead the formal discussion. Simply because it’s my group. I’m all for suggestions on titles, and anyone who wants to lead a discussion, no problem! Just let me know.
- Books are known 1 month in adv
ance. I know not everyone can buy a book each month. I’m okay with that, and I fully support libraries. So you’ll know April’s book at the beginning of March, so you can put your request in. - Bookclub discussion at the end of every month. (To allow you the month to read it…I know people are busy).
- We’ll test formats. Right now I’m thinking a teleseminar/live call AND discussions in the Ning Forum I’ve created.
- Some books might be e-books. I have read a lot of great books in the last year. Some of them are online books, that you can only purchase through the writers website. These books will have to be purchased. I will only choose these kinds of books if they thrill me to the point where I can’t keep them to myself (there are a couple that are just that good! and you’ll want copies of those ones).
- The club is free to join. All I ask is that you actually participate. Please don’t join if you don’t plan on showing up for the discussions.
- The club is free, BUT I might be using affiliate links. What does this mean? That if you do choose to purchase the book, and you do so through MY LINK…I get a small percentage of the sale.
- http://authenticselfbooks.ning.com/ is the link to the group forum if you want to sign up. I have not picked a book for January yet (but I have some in mind). I first wanted to see how much interest there is. If there are more than 4 people interested, it’s a go and we’ll grow slowly! (Small is actually better for book clubs, anyway). The group forum was just created (about 10 minutes ago), so please be patient! It’s new technology for me, and like I said earlier, I still don’t have all of the details out there. But I do love to act when inspired to do so!
Who will love this group? People interested in the Law of Attraction, personal development, living in the moment, discovering your authentic self, being happy, dealing with resistance, living in positive energy….all stuff like that. I’m not a “fluffy” or “woowoo” person, but if I find something out there that I love and it’s a bit weird…I’ll recommend it! You MUST be open minded, willing to set aside your story and preconceived notions, and jump right in!
That’s it. Join if you’re interested. Comment on recommended resources, or ideas for how to run the group. I’m flexible!
(Think and Grow Rich is not necessarily the next title, but it is a great example of the kind of book I recommend…and I know how to get free ebook copies!)
